Starting Over!!

Starting over after last year's fizzled book club efforts, we held our first Book Club meeting for 2010 on St. Patrick's Day. It was well attended and fun. We decided on a format and meeting time and will keep it up this time!

We'll be meeting on the third Wednesday of each month from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. We'll either meet at the church or the home of that month's host. If you're hosting, you choose the book and lead the discussion. Treats are welcome by participants, but not required. The same goes for kids!

For our meeting on April 21st, Jenny Whiting volunteerd to host. We'll be reading The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold, which came highly recommended from several different friends. We will let you know if it will be at Jenny's house or the church when we're closer to the date. The library has several copies and it only took me four days to get a copy and I was 6th on the waiting list!

To tell the truth, I'm kind of nervous about this selection. I'm a huge scaredy-cat and I'm worried I won't be able to sleep for weeks! How is everyone else feeling?

As a heads up, for May, we will probably be reading In Defense of Food by Michael Pollan. It's an outstanding non-fiction book about food culture in America. It is very readable and conversational and I hope you'll give it a try. It's available from the library as an audio book or paper copy.

  1. I told you... I heard about the book before, and it's not that I get scared or anything, I just hate depressing stuff. You should try Vampire Diaries... Shawna has my copies.
